Hello from sunny Melbourne! I can't believe we are in Spring - the past 6 months have gone so incredibly fast! I passed my 6 month probation at work - I couldn't believe it had already been 6 months. As any of you might know from reading my past posted I have been dreadfully sick over the last 4 months, I was extremely low vitD which meant that I wasn't able to defend my body against illness, but apart from a bad cough at the moment I seem to be on the mend! The last few months have been jammed packed with exciting things happening from passing work probation, Fraser and I decided to get a fur baby - a little kitten called Alfie of whom I will share photos in a later post, I'm a bit biased but he is just the cutest! My best friend from high school and her boyfriend got engaged! And my dad who has been waiting to have a hip replacement for nearly 2 years now is finally getting surgery next week - so he will be up and able soon.
I know some of you will understand but for me this year has been one I wanted to achieve so much more creatively for myself than I have... I have struggled with weighing up priorities and list of things to do that really are ridiculous - somehow thinking creating monster lists for myself would help motivate. I realise now that I had hit a burn out period for myself, it made me think about how we push ourselves to be so many things and fill so many hours of the day with things that we forget to stop and look after ourselves. We get frustrated when we can't create on demand, like its a burger from McDonald's. We make lists of things that we can never complete, which means we never get that amazing feeling of achieving goals. As much as it was a frustrating time for me, it has been an important one for me - it has made me stop and think about what I want to achieve and what is plausible. It also made me invest in this great little thing on Kickstarter, which is a self (goal) planner which helps you split your goals into manageable sizes so that you can actually achieve them - you can check it out here
Fraser and I are big kickstarter supporters, I always want to help those trying to make new, cool, different things whilst being just everyday normal people like us who don't have the budget to go out and do it themselves. Like the musing in Textiles book, that a group of awesome people helped us get out there :) Whilst talking about dreams coming true - this little lady painting was a dream I had and painted up quickly. I won't lie she happened moths ago but I have been slack at updating things. You can also see my array of lovely house plants (I love plants!) before a little kitten eats and tears them all up!
Now that my User Experience course is ending next week - there will be an end to days when I come home at 9.30 at night! I have set myself ONE goal to achieve by November - which is a new thing for me so hopefully I can share with you the success! I also will try and share with you what I actually do - as my role is a very quite a new profession to most and even my family don't really understand what I do so it will be good practice to properly explain! But for now I better go and use the rest of the sunny day!
